About
Masterkarn Kennels
Our personal goals and mission statement.
We believe that ethics, integrity and sportsmanship are an integral part of any good breeder’s code of conduct and have been part of this kennel since its inception in 1984.
- Keeping in mind we breed for ourselves and not the puppy or show market we are "Breeding dogs of sound mind and spirit, in a superb body - The complete Dog" (TM) for the Show ring, Companion, Obedience or Agility dog, a goal we intend on keeping always.
- We breed for the betterment of the German Pinscher breed and always with our dog’s welfare foremost in mind.
- Masterkarn knls intentionally breeds for both the Stag/Red and Blk and Tan.
- We intend on promoting the stag/red German Pinscher that is a most striking colour and is less often confused for the Dobermann.
Established in 1984.
John and Anita formed Masterkarn kennels in 1984 in
A little of our History
Anita and John were one of the first three founding breeders to develope the German Pinscher as a breed in Australia in 1989. We were the first to send two registered GP’s to
We also have companion dogs in most states with some Obedience/Agility trained, showing correct GP temperament. Our training method for our dogs is using with positive motivation, we also have an interest in training dogs for many varied and wonderful areas ourselves. Anita and John were heavily involved in the Working Aptitude testing in its early days with the DCSA and many of our Dobermanns were highly successful in the Working dog field, real security environment and with consistently major wins in the show ring, WAC and top place wins in obedience trials each of our dogs proved over and over again they were capable of performing in any or all of these fields.
With our own highly successful training practices and temperament testing of our litters it gave us an amazing insight into the world of temperament, obedience and breeding/showing we are very fortunate to have.
We have trained and trialed dogs to their CD in Dobermann’s and trained dogs to CDX, ET's, protection work and tracking in Dobermann’s also basic obedience with German Pinschers. I have also trained and trialed other's dogs for them for Obedience.
This created the drive and experience to breed the German Pinscher to be a well rounded balanced dog and still remains our number one goal.
Our Breeding Practices
Although breeding mainly when we want something to show/breed ourselves, our kennels is continuing to promote the German Pinschers to all those who show an interest and to those who would potentially benefit the breed, we offer help to new show/breeders and companion dog owners.
Masterkarn promotes serious health testing by doing our part in testing for genetic health issues for the betterment of for the future German Pinscher as a breed, by testing/scoring for Hips, Elbows, Eyes and vWD . We always breed with the bitches and dogs concern in mind and for the betterment of the pure breed German Pinscher.
Just a note on our Contracts-.
We do not generally have lots of dogs on show co-ownerships and prefer to show and keep our own dogs although this reduces the amount of titled dogs for our kennels, it is better for the pet owner that simply wants to own a German Pinscher and not a complicated contract.
We do not believe that every litter produces true show dogs and do contracts accordingly to suit all dogs as individuals......(please feel free to contact us via email or phone call and ask to see any one of them if you are genuinely enquiring about studs or ordering a puppy).
We do have show and co-ownership contracts all designed to suit the individual owner for that special dog. This contract will always have an end date and the dog would be transferred to the buyer as single ownership agreed to on that date at the completion of the contracts fulfillment. We consider our contracts to be fair to all parties.
Policy.
Clubs
We are members of the German Pinscher Club of Victoria Inc. (seriously promoting compulsory health testing) and the German Pinscher Club of New South Wales the only affiliated club so far. (Voluntary testing).
We also belong to the United Pinscher Club of Victoria and founding members.
Anita founded the German Pinscher Club of Qld Inc. in 2005 and John was an original committee/founding member of it.
We designed and developed the Pinscher Post, the club logo and all paperwork including membership applications and code of practices for the original club and is mostly still in use today.
